Website Accessibility Statement.

1. Our commitment to accessibility

Switch Digital is committed to making its website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or the technology used to reach it. We regard accessibility as a core measure of quality in digital work, and we apply the same standard to our own website that we ask our clients to hold us to.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, learning and neurological disabilities.

Our group operates in both Jersey and the United Kingdom, and our website is used by people in both jurisdictions. We have therefore taken account of the accessibility and equality obligations that apply in each. These are set out in section 2.

2. The laws and standards that apply to us

We publish this statement voluntarily. There is no legislation in Jersey or the United Kingdom that requires a private-sector business to publish an accessibility statement. We do so because we think it is the right thing to do, and because it holds us to account. The following obligations and standards are nonetheless relevant to how we approach accessibility.

Jersey

VisualEye Limited is a Jersey company and this website is published from Jersey. Under the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013, disability is a protected characteristic. That Law requires us not to discriminate against disabled people in the provision of goods, facilities and services, and to make reasonable adjustments so that a disabled person is not placed at a substantial disadvantage. We treat the accessibility of this website as part of that duty.

United Kingdom

The group includes a UK subsidiary, Switch Digital (UK) Limited, we employ people in the United Kingdom, and this website is available to and used by people in Great Britain. The Equality Act 2010 is therefore relevant to us in two respects:

  • As a provider of services, we must not discriminate against disabled people and we owe a duty to make reasonable adjustments. That duty is anticipatory: it requires us to think about the barriers disabled people may face and address them in advance, rather than waiting for an individual to ask. An inaccessible website can amount to a failure to make a reasonable adjustment.

  • As an employer, the same duty applies to our employees, workers and job applicants. This includes the recruitment and careers content published on this website.

The Equality Act 2010 does not extend to Jersey, and the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013 does not extend to the United Kingdom. Rather than treat the two regimes separately, we have adopted a single standard, WCAG 2.2 Level AA, across our whole digital estate, so that users receive the same experience wherever they are.

What does not apply to us

For the avoidance of doubt, we are not a public sector body. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to this website, and nothing in this statement should be read as a claim that we are regulated under them. We have, however, chosen to adopt the same WCAG conformance model that those Regulations require of public bodies, and to target the more recent WCAG 2.2 rather than the earlier version referenced in the harmonised European standard EN 301 549.

Where a client requires conformance with EN 301 549, the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations, the European Accessibility Act or any other specific accessibility regime in work we deliver for them, that is agreed and documented at project level as described in section 3. It is not governed by this statement.

3. Scope of this statement

This statement applies to the website published at switch.je and to the content and functionality we control on that website.

This statement does not apply to:

  • Websites, applications or digital products that we design, build or maintain for our clients. Accessibility standards for client work are agreed on a project-by-project basis and are set out in the applicable proposal, specification or statement of work.

  • Third-party platforms, tools or content embedded in or linked from our website, where the underlying code is not under our control. This is addressed further in section 8.

  • Archived content that is not needed for any active process we carry out.

4. Conformance status

WCAG 2.2 defines three levels of conformance: Level A (minimum), Level AA, and Level AAA (highest). Our target is Level AA.

Partially conformant: This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. The known exceptions are listed in section 8.

5. What we have done to make this website accessible

We have taken the following measures:

  • Included accessibility as a defined requirement in the design and build of the website, rather than treating it as a post-launch fix.

  • Adopted WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our internal minimum standard for our own digital estate.

  • Assigned clear internal responsibility for accessibility to Head of Web.

  • Provided accessibility guidance and training to the members of our team responsible for design, development and content.

  • Included accessibility checks in our quality assurance process before publishing new pages or features.

  • Committed to reviewing this statement and re-testing the website at least once a year, and whenever we make a significant change to the site.

  • Specific features of the website intended to support accessible use include:

  • Text that can be resized to at least 200% without loss of content or functionality.

  • Colour contrast that meets or exceeds the minimum contrast ratios required at Level AA.

  • Full keyboard operability, with a visible focus indicator and a mechanism to skip repeated navigation blocks.

  • Descriptive text alternatives for images that convey meaning, and null alternatives for purely decorative images.

  • A logical heading structure and semantic mark-up that allows screen-reader users to navigate by heading, landmark and link.

  • Form fields with programmatically associated labels, clear error identification and error suggestions.

  • A responsive layout that supports use in portrait and landscape orientation and reflows without requiring horizontal scrolling.

  • Consistent placement of help mechanisms and no reliance on dragging movements or complex gestures, in line with the new success criteria introduced in WCAG 2.2.

6. Technical specifications

Accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies working with your browser and any assistive technologies or plugins you use:

  • HTML

  • CSS

  • WAI-ARIA

  • JavaScript

  • SVG

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standard.

7. Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of the following, on both desktop and mobile devices:

  • Browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.

  • Screen readers and other assistive technology

The website is not tested against, and may not be fully compatible with, browsers more than two major versions out of date, or with browsers and assistive technologies that have been withdrawn from support by their publisher.

8. Known limitations and non-accessible content

We are open about where our website falls short. Despite our best efforts, some limitations remain. The table below lists the issues we are aware of, the reason for each, and what we intend to do about it.

Known issue

Reason

Planned resolution

[e.g. Some older PDF documents are not tagged and cannot be read reliably by a screen reader.]

[e.g. Published before our current standards were adopted; not essential to an active process.]

[e.g. Documents still in active use will be replaced with accessible HTML by INSERT DATE. Others will be archived.]

[e.g. Video content published before INSERT DATE does not have captions or an audio description.]

[e.g. Disproportionate burden to remediate the full back catalogue.]

[e.g. All new video captioned from INSERT DATE. Transcripts available on request in the meantime.]

[e.g. An embedded third-party mapping component has contrast and keyboard-focus issues.]

[e.g. Third-party content outside our control.]

[e.g. Raised with the supplier; a non-map text alternative giving the same information is provided alongside it.]

Where content is provided or controlled by a third party, we do not have the ability to change the underlying code. In those cases we raise the issue with the supplier and, where practicable, provide an accessible alternative route to the same information or function.

Where we consider that remediating content would impose a disproportionate burden, we say so above and give our reasons. We keep those assessments under review, and we will remediate the content if the balance changes.

9. How we assessed this website

This website was last assessed on 01/08/2026 by self-assessment carried out by Switch Digital.

The assessment used the following methods:

  • Automated testing using axe DevTools and Lighthouse across a representative sample of page templates.

  • Manual testing of keyboard-only operation, focus order, focus visibility and reflow at 320 CSS pixels width and 200% zoom.

  • Manual testing with screen readers, as listed in section 7.

  • Manual review of colour contrast, text alternatives, heading structure, form labelling and error handling.

  • Testing with disabled users.

Automated tools alone cannot confirm conformance with WCAG. We therefore treat automated results as a starting point rather than as evidence of compliance.

10. Feedback, alternative formats and contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter a barrier, or if you need information from this website in an alternative format, please tell us. We will treat any accessibility problem you report as a fault to be fixed, not a complaint to be defended.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility enquiries within one working day and to respond substantively within five working days. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

When reporting a problem, it helps us if you can tell us the web address of the page concerned, what you were trying to do, and the browser, device and any assistive technology you were using. Please do not feel obliged to provide technical detail if you would rather not.

We can provide information from this website in alternative formats, including large print, plain text or accessible electronic documents, on request and at no charge.

11. If you are not satisfied with our response

If you have raised an accessibility issue with us and you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, please ask for the matter to be escalated to our CEO, who will review it and respond to you directly.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may be able to seek advice or take further steps under the equality legislation that applies to you. Nothing in this statement limits your rights under that legislation or any other applicable law, and nothing in it requires you to come to us first.

If you are in Jersey:

  • Free, independent and confidential advice is available from the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service (JACS) and from Citizens Advice Jersey.

  • Complaints under the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013 are heard by the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal. Time limits apply, so we would encourage you to take advice promptly.

If you are in England, Scotland or Wales:

  • Free advice and support on disability discrimination in the provision of services is available from the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

  • Advice on employment matters, including reasonable adjustments at work and during recruitment, is available from Acas.

  • Claims under the Equality Act 2010 relating to services are brought in the county court, and claims relating to employment are brought in the employment tribunal. Time limits apply and they are short, so please take advice promptly.

If you are outside Jersey and the United Kingdom, please still contact us. We will do our best to resolve the problem regardless of where you are, and regardless of whether any particular law obliges us to.

12. Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is not a one-off exercise. We will:

  • Review this statement, and re-test the website, at least once every 12 months.

  • Re-test before publishing any significant new page template, feature or third-party integration.

  • Record accessibility issues reported to us, and track them to resolution alongside other defects.

  • Update section 8 of this statement when an issue is resolved or a new issue is identified.

13. Status of this statement

This statement is a statement of our accessibility position and commitments in respect of our own website. It is not a contractual term, it does not form part of any agreement between Switch Digital and a client, and it does not create any warranty or representation as to the accessibility of work we carry out for clients. Accessibility requirements for client work are governed by the applicable proposal, specification or statement of work and by our standard terms of business.
